Understanding Fistula Treatment
An anal fistula is a small tunnel that forms between the inside of the anal canal and the skin near the anus, usually after an untreated or recurrent anal abscess. It rarely heals on its own and tends to flare up again and again.
Treatment depends on how the tract runs in relation to the sphincter muscles. Options range from a simple fistulotomy to sphincter-sparing techniques such as LIFT, laser (FiLaC) or a seton, chosen to clear the infection while protecting continence.
Your proctologist confirms the anatomy with an MRI or endoanal ultrasound before surgery. Ayushman Surgicare arranges the imaging, the specialist, the hospital and insurance, with 90 days of Care Buddy follow-up.
