Understanding Fissure Treatment

An anal fissure is a small tear in the lining of the anal canal, most often caused by passing a hard or large stool. It produces sharp pain during and after bowel movements and can bleed.

Fresh fissures usually heal with a high-fibre diet, stool softeners and medicated ointments. Chronic fissures that have not healed in 6–8 weeks are treated with a quick day-care procedure — laser or lateral internal sphincterotomy — that relaxes the muscle spasm so the tear can heal.

Ayushman Surgicare coordinates the proctology consultation, the procedure, the hospital and insurance, and your Care Buddy checks in through recovery.

Common Symptoms

If you have one or more of these, it's worth speaking to a specialist.

Sharp, burning pain during bowel movements
Pain that lingers for minutes to hours afterwards
Bright red blood on the stool or toilet paper
A visible crack in the skin around the anus
A small skin tag near the fissure
Spasm or tightness of the anal muscle

Our specialists use the latest minimally invasive techniques wherever possible — smaller incisions, less bleeding and a faster return to daily life.

Every patient has a full pre-surgical evaluation to decide the most effective approach, and a multidisciplinary team supports your health before, during and after the procedure.

Patient stories

Real people, real recoveries

A few words from patients whose treatment was coordinated through Ayushman Surgicare.

“I had put off seeing a doctor about piles for two years out of embarrassment. The consultation was matter-of-fact and kind, the laser procedure was done by lunchtime, and I was back at my desk in three days.”
SSandeep R.Laser Piles Surgery · Hyderabad
“My fistula had come back twice before. This time they did an MRI first, explained exactly which technique they'd use to protect the muscle, and my Care Buddy checked on my dressings every few days. Six months on, no recurrence.”
IImran K.Fistula Surgery (LIFT) · Secunderabad
“The fissure pain was unbearable every morning. After the day-care procedure it settled within a fortnight. What I appreciated most was that nobody rushed me — they answered every question before I agreed to surgery.”
LLakshmi P.Fissure Treatment · Uppal
“My pilonidal sinus had been drained twice at other places and kept coming back. The laser procedure here left just two tiny wounds. I was sitting comfortably within a week and it hasn't returned in eight months.”
RRohit M.Laser Pilonidal Sinus Surgery · Kompally
“At 71 I was nervous about surgery for the prolapse. The team walked my daughter and me through both options, chose the keyhole repair, and the Care Buddy arranged my physiotherapy afterwards. I finally feel normal again.”
SSarojini D.Laparoscopic Rectopexy · Nacharam
“The cashless approval was the part I was dreading, but they handled the whole insurance file. I just turned up, had the piles procedure, and went home the same evening with a clear recovery plan.”
