Understanding Inguinal Hernia Treatment

An inguinal hernia is a bulge in the groin where abdominal contents push through the inguinal canal. It is the most common type of hernia, particularly in men, and often follows heavy lifting, chronic cough or straining.

The modern repair is laparoscopic — TEP or TAPP — placing a mesh behind the muscle wall through three small cuts. This approach is especially good for hernias on both sides and for returning to activity quickly, with less groin discomfort than open surgery.

Ayushman Surgicare coordinates the surgeon, tests, hospital and insurance, with 90 days of Care Buddy follow-up.

Common Symptoms

If you have one or more of these, it's worth speaking to a specialist.

A bulge in the groin or scrotum, more obvious when standing
The bulge eases when you lie down or push it in
A dragging or burning ache in the groin
Discomfort that worsens through the day or with exertion
A heavy or full feeling in the groin
Sudden hard, painful swelling that won't reduce — emergency

Our specialists use the latest minimally invasive techniques wherever possible — smaller incisions, less bleeding and a faster return to daily life.

Every patient has a full pre-surgical evaluation to decide the most effective approach, and a multidisciplinary team supports your health before, during and after the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

For bilateral hernias, recurrent hernias and people keen to return to activity fast, laparoscopic repair generally causes less pain and quicker recovery. For a simple one-sided hernia both approaches work well; your surgeon will advise.

“The umbilical hernia had slowly got bigger after my second pregnancy. The repair took under an hour, the scar is tiny, and my Care Buddy checked in through the whole first month.”
DDeepika N.Umbilical Hernia Repair · Malkajgiri
“What I feared most was the insurance runaround. They filed everything, got the cashless approval before admission, and I never had to argue with the TPA once.”
SSuresh B.Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal · Dilsukhnagar
“Both sides needed repair. Doing it laparoscopically in one sitting meant one recovery instead of two. I was walking properly the next day.”
