Understanding IVF Treatment
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is an assisted-reproduction treatment where eggs are collected from the ovaries, fertilised with sperm in the laboratory, and one resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus.
A cycle takes about 4–6 weeks: ovarian stimulation with daily injections, a short egg-collection procedure under sedation, laboratory fertilisation (often with ICSI), and embryo transfer, followed by a pregnancy test two weeks later.
