Understanding Cleft Lip

A cleft lip is a gap in the upper lip, present from birth, that occurs when the lip does not fully join during early development. It may involve the nose and, in some children, the palate as well.

Repair is a carefully planned reconstructive operation, usually done in the first few months of life, that closes the gap, rebuilds the muscle and restores a natural lip and nostril shape. Ayushman Surgicare coordinates the specialist team, feeding support and the surgical schedule.
